I am sure that most of first posts from a blog start with introductions or "About Me" stories. I promise I'll get to that at a later point, but first, I guess I should start out with my explaining my blog title.
Pensive. Defined as engaging, involving, or reflecting deep or serious thought.
I find this word so intriguing. No part of the word gives away anything that it means. Most words you can guess what they might mean, such as antagonist. We know that anti- means against, so the word must have something to do with that. Or bicycle, which we can break down into bi- and -cycle, and come up with the definition without looking it up. Pensive. It hides it's meaning away from us, as to make us sit and wonder what it could possibly signify.
Introspective. Synonyms include self-analyzing or inward-looking.
I believe this is a very important thing to do. No one starts deciding who they want to be and how they want to live their life without looking at themselves and asking questions like, "Am I happy how I am?" It is the first step in many aspects of life. Currently, I am choosing a college that I'll be spending the next four years of my life attending and learning. During this process, I didn't put a list of the colleges I'd been accepted to in front of me, close my eyes, twirl my finger around, and choose the first one my finger landed on. Instead, for example, I sat and thought about the college atmosphere, the atmospheres I enjoy, and compared them. I wanted to make sure the college I pick is the right one for me. Being introspective is important in lots of situations, not just choosing a college.
Pensive and Introspective. My definition is: A way of looking in on yourself and contemplating how your thoughts portray who you are.
How do your thoughts of yourself portray who you are?
Stay Beautiful,
Sadie
